Mounting the Seat
The Seat Position The leading edge of the seat must be absolutely straight. If it is rounded even slightly, the front edge will become a pressure point on the down stroke of your leg and cause discomfort very quickly. Even at the very slight angle that your leg will have with respect to your seat, you will feel this edge for the first few times you ride. Since the contact is spread out along the whole length of the seat you will soon get used to this and not notice it. If the front edge were rounded there would be a pressure point that would not go away. Today's bicycle seats are located directly over the center of the pedal sprocket. This is a BAD DESIGN! The seat SHOULD be located aft of the pedal sprocket. The rider should sit as low as possible consistent with being comfortable.
