Mounting the Seat

The Hardware

The mount and the seat post is not supplied with our seat because there are several different seat post sizes in use.

Your bike seat, as do all bike seats, fastens onto two parallel wires under the seat. On our bike seat we have made those wires slightly larger than standard but they will still fit into whatever mount you have.

Just take off the old seat and put on the new. (The wires, as well as everything else in the seat are over designed from a strength standpoint. This seat will last.)

Some of the new cheaper seat post mounts we found were more cheaply built than the traditional solid aluminum ones and did not have the holding power required.

The answer in posts is selecting a post for an "off road" bikeWe recommend the Rockwerks Alloy Seat Post which is available on-line or through any bike shop that sells "off road" bikes. You can either install it yourself or take it to your local bike shop. Unlike the "banana" seat, our seat can be precisely adjusted to your riding comfort.

Rockwerks with our seat is a winning combination.

The Seat Position

The leading edge of the seat must be absolutely straight.  If it is rounded even slightly, the front edge will become a pressure point on the down stroke of your leg and cause discomfort very quickly.  Even at the very slight angle that your leg will have with respect to your seat, you will feel this edge for the first few times you ride.  Since the contact is spread out along the whole length of the seat you will soon get used to this and not notice it.  If the front edge were rounded there would be a pressure point that would not go away.

Today's bicycle seats are located directly over the center of the pedal sprocket. This is a BAD DESIGN! The seat SHOULD be located aft of the pedal sprocket. The rider should sit as low as possible consistent with being comfortable.
